Santorini Surprise......

So Louis and i celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary on the 18th June 2017, so to make sure we celebrated our first anniversary in style we decided to go and a have a week away in Santorini....
I had been mesmorised by the stunning blue and white domes and knew it had to be a place for our list and as it is only a 4 hour flight from the UK it meant it was perfect for a weeks holiday.

Now i did not realise that it is quite pricey to go to Greece our flights with Easyjet came in just under £800 return which is more than we spend on long haul flights but we knew we had to pay it and even with my super searching i could not find anything cheaper, next came the accomodation... now this took me well over a month to sort out, i wanted so badly to have that view of the blue and white domes but also because Santorini is quite a luxurious destination (and it was our anniversary) i also wanted a hot tub on our balcony... i quickly realised it was going to cost thousands for 1 week to have the both and even though i felt my dreams were a little bit shattered i started widening my search and being a little more reaistic with what boxes we could tick.

When ever we go away i tend to use Booking.com  (infact i use it so much i am a 'booking genius') so when ever we go anywhere i always create a list in my booking.com account and save any possible properties and then i will print the list off and cross reference with trip advisor for reviews (yes i am that sad!) so i had at least 7 places saved which i could NOT decide between but they were all coming up so expensive that i decided to book us in to a cheaper apartment for 2 nights (mainly as we were getting in to Santorini at 8pm) this then made the following 5 nights alot more reasonable.

I booked us in to the Altea Apartments for our 2 night stay in the centre of Fira as this is where the airport is and it also had free parking which was great because we hired a car (more on that later) but was also a stones throw away from all the shops and restaurants. The owner of the apartments was such a lovely man he made sure we had settled in showed us how to get to te main square and gave us maps and hints on places to go, i honestly cannot recommend this place enough for a central base in Fira.

Now i had no preconceived image of what Fira would be like and i will be honest we were a bit shocked the main square at first seemed very hustle and bustle and not at all what i was expecting and i thought 'oh god what have we done' its not our cup of tea at all being in a really busy place but as we took a side street we realised there was alot more to Fira than first meets the eye, we came across amazing little cobbled streets that just climbed and climbed whilst being lined with a array of bars, shops and retaurants, and if you climb high enough it takes you to the start of the Fira to Oia walk and the cable cars and the view from there is breath taking, as we had arrived at night when we got to that spot we could just see all of Santorini lit up....
